Alternator Issues

494.jpg
In general the alternators are very reliable, and trouble free. However, they cannot last forever. Some mechanics say an alternator typically lasts seven years or about 160,000 to 200,000 km. Heat, water, or improper sizing are some factors affecting alternator longevity. When you alternator is not in the good condition, you may start to lose power to various parts of your car when your car is at idle. This is because there's nothing to recharge the battery and it's extremely dangerous to drive this way.
Bad alternator symptoms:
1. Headlights are dim and flickering, air conditioner isn't working
2. Strange noises
3. Car stalls or has difficulty starting
4. Service Engine light on, it can light up a "Check Engine" or battery icon indicator.
How to deal when indicator lights on?
Battery warning lights on while running, this indicates that the battery isn't receiving a charge from the alternator. Your car is then running over the energy stored in the battery, we recommend you to turn off headlights and air conditioners to save energy because the car will run till the battery goes dead.
